Our Morning Star Zendo Retreats
Silent retreats (sesshins) offer an opportunity to develop a deeper contemplative prayer life, strengthened by the presence of others. Zazen or sitting meditation is the practice of stilling the mind through attentiveness to the breath. Together with stillness of the body, this frees the mind from its ordinary activities of thinking, and speculating.
Zen silent retreats are open to persons of all religious and non-religious affiliations; they includes zazen (seated meditation in 25 minute periods), kinhin (walking meditation), chanting, dharma talks and daisan (one on one interviews with the teachers), and beginners instruction.
ANGOS – During the Lenten and Advent seasons, Roshi Kennedy often presents a reading each weekday that he is not travelling in order to support the deepening of our practice. We call these periods of intensified practice Angos. You can view an archive of our Ango readings here
Please see our Weekly Schedule page for our many free and open meditation sessions at our Zendo and online. Here we list upcoming retreats led by Roshi Kennedy at other locations:
